    Mugwort Herb (Powder)

Mugwort is a common wayside herb with a long history of use. While the dried leaf is typically prepared as tea or tinctured, the powdered herb adds minty flavor to many traditional Asian dishes. In fact, mugwort powder is a key ingredient in Chinese qingtuan (rice dumplings), Korean gyeongdan (rice cake balls) and Japanese mochi (a sweet rice dough). Powdered mugwort also lends its anti-inflammatory properties to moisturizing soaps and other skin care products.

    Mustard Seed (Yellow, Powder)

Most people are familiar with ground yellow mustard seed as an ingredient in deviled eggs and classic potato salad. But powdered yellow mustard also makes a flavorful rub for baked or grilled chicken and fish. The powder can also be added to vegetables dressed with lemon juice or vinegar and olive oil.The flavor of yellow mustard seed is less pungent than brown mustard seed, and mixing the powdered seed with hot water or an acidic liquid, like vinegar or lemon juice, inhibits the enzymatic process that produces “heat.”

    Lavender Flower (Whole, Organic)

This variety of lavender is called lavandin, a cross between English lavender (L. angustifolia) and spike lavender (L. latifolia) cultivated in Spain and France. It is less costly to produce than other lavenders because it has a higher oil content. The purple flower buds are used whole in tea blends, custards, cakes, muffins and in other baked goods. As a seasoning, lavender is a component of the classic blend Herbes de Provence, which is commonly used in French cuisine to infuse flavor into roasted meats, grilled fish, vegetable dishes and soups and stews. Note that this variety of lavender contains a fair amount of camphor, which gives the flowers a mild pine-like flavor, so use it sparingly in cooking, as you would rosemary or other strong-flavored herb.

    Black Peppercorn (30 Mesh) (Fine)

Our 30-mesh black pepper is the finest in terms of shake that we offer. In addition to culinary use, finely ground black pepper is—brace yourself—an old-fashioned laundry additive. The “berries” of the plant contain a high degree of piperine, a chemical that reputedly helps to prevent color loss in clothing when added to the wash. For a full load, plan on using 1-2 tablespoons.Note: The term 'mesh' refers to the coarseness of ground pepper, which can range from a fine shake to large granules. (The term literally refers to the size of the holes in the mesh screen through which the spice passes while it is ground.) The higher the number, the finer the pepper. Similarly, a mesh of 12 indicates a grind between coarse and cracked.

This member of the sandalwood family is native to central Europe, with various sub-species distributed throughout western and Southeast Asia.Although the herb is traditionally used to prepare teas and tinctures, the fact that it contains a protein-binding agent that behaves similarly to ricin suggests that it's best to limit mistletoe to decorative and ceremonial purposes.
