Cashews are the seeds of an evergreen shrub from the tropics, related to mango, pistachio and poison ivy. One quarter cup of cashews provides 5 grams protein, and a healthy balance of fat types (62% are mono saturated and 18 % are polyunsaturated). Due to this balance, cashew consumption can lead to lowered risk of cancer, obesity and heart disease.
